Is Jesus Christ
Just A Man - Or Is He God?
"And without controversy
great is the mystery of godliness:
GOD
WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH,
justified
in the Spirit, seen by angels,
preached
among the Gentiles,
believed
on in the world,
received
up in glory."
1
Timothy 3:15-16
"The mystery of godliness..."
Some
question the deity of Christ. Was he just a man? Or was he God in the
flesh?
The Scriptures tell us to prove all doctrine by its
being repeated in several places:
"By the mouth of two or
three witnesses
every word shall be established."
2
Corinthians 13:1
So let's do that right now.
Here's a
second witness to the deity of Christ:
A
CHILD is born who is EVERLASTING,
who
is the mighty GOD:
"For unto us a CHILD is born,
unto
us a Son is given;
and
the government will be upon his shoulder.
And
his name will be called
Wonderful,
Counselor, MIGHTY GOD,
EVERLASTING
Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah
9:6
This child, a human being, is also God, the Mighty GOD,
the EVERLASTING, or ETERNAL, Father.
A third witness to the
deity of Christ:
Thomas
was one of the apostles who had walked with Jesus throughout his
ministry on earth. After he was told that Christ is raised from the
dead, Thomas couldn't believe it - until Jesus came to him and showed
him the nail prints in his hands. Thomas was shocked and humbled, and
he answered and said to him,
“My Lord and my GOD!”
John
20:28
Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, truly God and
truly man. He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end,
the very God of glory proclaimed throughout the Word of God from the
Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation.
