"Therefore, since we are receiving
a Kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us have grace,
by which we may serve God acceptably
WITH REVERENCE AND GODLY FEAR."
Hebrews 12:28
I recently heard someone say, "oh my
God, oh my God!"
Have you ever wondered why worldly
expressions have to insult God?
I remember in days of old
hearing one say "oh sugar!" But now almost everyone
expresses emotion by saying "oh my God." They have no idea
what they're saying - or
why.
Why
is the name of Jesus the common blaspheming expression? Someone gets
angry and their expression is "Jesus Christ!" When was the
last time you heard someone say "Buddha!" Or "Allah!"
Or the name of anyone OTHER than Jesus Christ?
"And my
Name is blasphemed continually every day."
Isaiah
52:5
It should be obvious that there is someone behind this,
that it's no coincidence that worldly expressions hurl insults
against the most high God. Whenever you use the word "God"
irreverently, or Jesus Christ in anger, you are gifting Satan. He
delights in all irreverence toward God and in every expression of
hatred toward him. And if he can move A BELIEVER say such things, all
the better.
Do you realize what you're doing when you say "God
damned...?" You're delighting Satan who wishes that all be
damned, that all be eternally lost.
Brothers and sisters, when
you are saved you become ambassadors for Christ. You represent him
wherever you are, in whatever you do. If your speech is laced with
profanity you are making a statement before unbelievers. What worse
thing can you do as a believer than to profane the name of your God
before unbelievers?
"Let no corrupt word proceed out of
your mouth..."
Ephesians
4:29
Repent and ask for forgiveness for this insult to God.
