"...lest Satan should take
advantage of us,
for we are not
ignorant of his devices."
2
Corinthians 2:11
Many do not even believe there IS a Satan.
And among those who do, many are "ignorant of his devices."
How
can one succeed without understanding the agenda against him? When
armies go to war, they must first know their enemy. How can we
proceed if we're unaware of the very deadly attempts from our enemy
meant to destroy us?
If you were to ask a believer what ARE
Satan's methods, most would only say that he tempts us to sin. True,
but that's only a small part of it. His GREATEST action against man
was revealed in the very first narrative about him in Genesis and
shows that it's far more insidious than that. Did he tempt Eve? Yes.
But the real intent of his plan was to DECEIVE her, TO CONVINCE HER THAT THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT TRUE.
And so it is today. He asks
"Did God really say ...?" Then he proclaims that what God
said was NOT TRUE. Then he presents the PLEASURE one will have if he
takes the bait.
Satan doesn't just tempt us to sin no, his
agenda is far more terrible than that. He speaks to your mind that
God's Word isn't true and convinces you that the sin you're tempted
with won't really do any harm; otherwise people wouldn't sin, would
they?
All he has to do is deceive you, then you'll take care
of the rest.
Don't fall for it. Be on your guard. Truly,
truly, the pleasure is not worth it. Satan's goal is to destroy you.
And he begins it by lying to you.
