"It is
honorable for a man to stop striving,
since
any fool can start a quarrel."
Proverbs
20:3
There are quarrels that have lasted years, both parties
believing they are right, or that they have good reason to continue
the quarrel. But the question is: if you continue the quarrel another
ten years, what have you gained?
Let it go. It can't produce
what you hope. If it hasn't yet, after continuing years, it won't in
the future either, so just let it go for the sake of your peace, the
peace that comes when you do something God's way. Even if you have to
let it go when you're in the right, just let it go. Be at peace with
the person. THAT is gain, whereas a continued strife is useless and
only keeps you in the pain of bitterness. No! Be free of it!
Always
ask yourself if your argument is continuing because of pride. Pride
is the most heinous of sins before God – it's what caused Satan to
fall. Satan baits us with pride because he wants us also to fall.
Reject his arguments. CHOOSE God's way and let HIM work out the
situation – HIS way. God is faithful. You can trust him.
"If
it is possible,
as much as depends on
you,
live peaceably with all
men."
Romans 12:18
