There Is Only One God

December 12

"...yet for us there is one God, the Father,
of whom are all things, and we for him,
and one Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom are all things,
and through whom we live."
1 Corinthians 8:6

There is only one God, but who is he?

Allah is not God.

Buddha is not God.

Their writings are not from God.

They are dead.

Jesus Christ is alive.

And that’s one reason we conclude there is only one God. He who walked on the earth 2,000 years ago, is alive. The others are in their graves. He alone lives.

Not one of the founders of other religions came to die for us. They all demanded "goodness" and good works for salvation. Jesus Christ gave his life for sinners, and he demands only faith in what he alone has accomplished for us. When he hung on that cross he bore in himself the judgment on our sins. That's why he came, to save sinners. That's why faith in Christ is exclusive. No other founder died for the sins of their followers.

Jesus Christ said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.
NO ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT through me."
John 14:6

And herein is the "offense" of the Gospel. God provided only ONE sacrificing atonement for us, and it is entirely exclusive. The offense of the Gospel is Christ's claim to be the only way provided by God wherein mankind can be saved.

Not through Allah
Not through Muhammed
Not through Buddha
Not through Krishna
Not through any "saint"
Not through "the blessed virgin Mary"

"For there is one God and ONE MEDIATOR
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself a ransom for all..."
1 Timothy 2:5-6

Turn to him and your sins will be forgiven and you will be given a new life.
