Don't Ever, Ever, Give Up

September 11

"For God is not unjust to forget
your work and labor of love
which you have shown toward his Name,
in that you have ministered to the saints,
and do minister. And we desire that each
one of you show the same diligence
to the full assurance of hope until the end,
that you do not become sluggish,
but imitate those who through faith and
patience inherit the promises."
Hebrews 6:10-12

"...that you do not become sluggish…"

How do we lapse into sluggishness? Sometimes it's after having prayed for a very long time, and as time goes on without apparent answer to prayer, we can begin to become sluggish in our intercession. And faith can waver at that point.

My sister came to the Lord two years before I did. Her calling is to intercessory prayer and she interceded for me those two years. Finally one day she was at a prayer meeting and she broke down in sobs. They gathered around her and asked what was wrong. She said, "I've prayed for my sister for so long and the more I pray the worse she gets and I just don't have the strength to carry this burden." At that time I was steeped in the occult and my life was in ruins. Then a man in my sister's prayer group stood up and said, "YOUR SISTER'S TIME HAS COME." And I was saved that following weekend.

What if my sister had given up? What if she saw the devil bringing me deeper and deeper into desolation and concluded that it was just impossible? I wouldn't be saved today, and neither would the people I've had the privilege to bring to the Lord since then.

Many lives depended on her not giving up.

Don't EVER, EVER give up.
