"But may the God of all grace,
who
called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
after you have
suffered a while,
perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle
you."
1 Peter 5:10
“...after you have suffered a
while ...”
Suffering is very much a part of our walk with
the Lord, but it's not suffering for suffering's sake. Some people in
various religions actually flagellate themselves with whips or climb
stairs of stone on their knees, thinking they're gaining points with
God by humbling themselves through pain. No, those rituals are
useless and actually counterproductive. God who created each unique
individual, alone chooses the elements in life that will mold them
and change them into what they were meant to be before him.
Nothing
touches a believer that has not been passed through the loving
Creator's hands and watched over by his eye. Therefore, don't resist
it. Pray for a purified heart. Ask for GRACE TO COOPERATE with him,
knowing that he is accomplishing in you an eternal weight of glory.
These sufferings will be behind us, but the joy of eternity is
forever.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a
moment,
is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal
weight
of glory, while we do not look at the things
which are seen, but
at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen
are temporary,
but the things which are not seen are eternal."
2
Corinthians 4:17-18
Remember always that God uses our trials
to bring about something of so much value that had you understood,
you never would have resisted.
"For I consider that the
sufferings of this present time
ARE NOT WORTHY TO BE COMPARED
with
the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Romans 8:18
