"He
who has begun a good work in you
will
complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;"
Philippians
1:6
When a person is born again he is born as an
infant, and understanding that should oftentimes stop the mouths of
accusers who are offended at something a fellow believer says or
does. Too often we hear a comment followed by the phrase, "and
he's supposed to be a Christian!" Those who scrutinize do not
understand that believers aren't perfected suddenly as soon as they
accept Christ. Furthermore, some believers don't feed in the Word of
God daily, consequently they don't grow.
Growth in Christ is,
just as in natural growth, a slow and often difficult process. The
newly born-again will stumble and fall many times before he is able
to stand and walk as a mature believer. Let us then, never be
critical and condescending with the immature, but be gentle and
helpful and encouraging, keeping in mind that we also are growing and
sometimes stumbling.
Someday "this corruptible will put
on incorruption” but right now believers are in training. Let
accusers give the believer space to grow.
