"Do you not know
that friendship
with the world is enmity with God?
Whoever
therefore wants to be a friend
of the world makes himself an
enemy of God."
James 4:4
This
is truly worth meditating on, because it can lead one to
life-changing decisions.
You can't have one foot in the
Kingdom and one foot in the world. Does this mean you have to be a
hermit and withdraw from living in the world? Of course not. It means
rather, that you reject the "wisdom of the world" and the
ways of the world, the values of the world, and accept the Word of
God as your foundation. The Word of God teaches you what it's all
about, who God is, what he wants, why you're here, where you're
going, and what to do while you're here.
"For the wisdom
of this world is foolishness with God.
...The
Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."
1
Corinthians 3:19, 20
The bottom line is that we’re
only passing through. And if we’re only passing through, isn’t
the most important thing ...investment in our eternity? Men go to
great lengths to invest wisely for their retirement so that they will
live comfortably when that time comes. How much more important is it
to invest in our eternity which will last forever!
This life
we’re passing through is the time God has given us for that
very thing. It’s all about decisions. Our decisions will determine our eternity.
Think deeply on this. IF you truly
understand it, It may lead you to make the most important decisions
of your life.
