"This is a faithful saying
and worthy of
all acceptance,
that Christ Jesus
came into the world
to save sinners,
of whom I am chief."
1 Timothy
1:15
Many people, especially "religious" persons,
believe they are not in need of salvation because they are "good."
But listen to the Word of God:
"There is none righteous,
NO, NOT ONE…"
Romans 3:10
NOT
ONE. That includes Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, and every other
"good" person who was ever born. When Adam sinned, he came
under the curse of sin and death and every descendant from Adam comes
into the world in a fallen, sinful human nature.
"If we
say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth
is not in us."
1 John
1:10
That's why Jesus said we MUST be born again (John
3:7).
Our natural birth brings us into the world dead in sin.
If you doubt that, put any two-year-old in front of a bowl of cookies
and tell him not to touch it. Or put two toddlers in a room and watch
until one tries to take a toy away from another. You will see acted
out in front of you disobedience, selfishness, covetousness, theft;
the sin nature will be very evident. You try to raise your child to
overcome the sin nature, but you can only train his BEHAVIOR through
fear and reward to a certain point, you cannot rid the child of the
sin nature he was born with. That's why Jesus said, "You MUST
be born again."
Jesus came for those who realize they
cannot overcome sin. He alone can provide the cure, the deliverance,
the salvation. You must receive this personally, you're not saved
because you're a good person and you're not saved because you were
raised in a Christian home. You were born spiritually dead and "You
MUST be born again."
