"For we have spent enough of our past lifetime
in
doing the will of the Gentiles,
when
we walked in lewdness, lusts,
drunkenness, revelries, drinking
parties,
and abominable idolatries. In regard to these,
they
think it strange that you do not run with them
in
the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you."
1
Peter 4:3-4
Do not expect your friends to understand
when you surrender your life to Jesus Christ. There's no way they can
even begin to understand your change of heart. They live their lives
to drink and party, and satisfy their lusts - which you once enjoyed
with them. But now that your heart has been changed, it is
unreasonable to expect them to understand - they can't. Your heart
has been changed by the grace of God; theirs hasn't.
"But
the natural man does not receive
the things of the Spirit of
God,
for they are foolishness to him;
nor
CAN
he know them,
because they are
spiritually discerned."
1
Corinthians 2:14
They are unable to understand
spiritual things. They may laugh at you and call you names, and this
is a price you must be willing to pay for surrendering your life to
the Lord. What's inside of them wll reject what is inside you.
But
this isn't the end of the story. You will be greatly rewarded for
your choice to forsake evil and follow Jesus Christ. Not a thing you
have done for him is overlooked by him. When you stand before him,
great will be your joy as he welcomes you and embraces you and says
to you:
"Well done, good and faithful servant,
you
were faithful over a few things,
I
will make you ruler over many things.
Enter
into the joy of your Lord."
Matthew
25:21
