“…it pleased God through the
"foolishness"
of the
message preached, to save those who believe.
For
Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom,
but
we preach Christ crucified,
to the
Jews an offense and to the Greeks foolishness,
but
to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ
the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1
Corinthians 1:21-24
Jesus Christ – to the Jews an offense.
The apostle Paul tells us that the Jews have a veil over them, which
blinds them to the truth of Jesus Christ. Have you ever tried to
bring a Jew to Christ? If you have, you have seen the veil. They
CANNOT respond. They brought this veil upon themselves when they
crucified him, and will only be removed when he returns.
"But
their minds were blinded. For until this day
the
same VEIL remains unlifted
in the
reading of the Old Testament,
because
the veil is taken away in Christ.
But
even to this day, when Moses is read,
a veil
lies on their heart."
2
Corinthians 3:14-15
Even so, some have had the veil removed -
because some have turned to the Lord and asked to know the truth, and
to those - he graciously removes the veil.
vs 16
"Nevertheless
when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away."
And
to gentiles ...they call the Gospel "foolishness."
But
to the believer ...he is the wisdom and the power of God. His power
is what ALONE can change a person’s life. He takes the believer
through the great adventure of walking with God, being led by the
Holy Spirit.
Let him not be an offense to you. Let him not be
foolishness to you. Turn to him. Let him become the wisdom in all you
do, and let his power radically change your life.
