If You Are His You Are Not Your Own

 June 17

"Or do you not know that your body
is the temple of the Holy Spirit
who is in you,
whom you have from God,
and you are not your own?
For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body
and in your spirit, which are God’s."
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

If, ...that is IF ...you are his, you are not your own. Some consider themselves his, but have not surrendered their lives to him. They refuse his Lordship over them and insist that they be lord over their own lives. These belong to themseslves. They insist on being the lord over their lives. For them, sin rules. But sin fascinates, then assassinates.

When Satan tempts you, he never shows you the price tag, and be assured, there is ALWAYS a price tag. Let us not think we're strong enough to resist him - he knows us intimately, he knows exactly where we are weak and will take advantage of that.

"Therefore submit to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
James 4:7

The Scripture advises us to FIRST ...submit to God. That implies confidence in him; in it we acknowledge our weakness. So before anything else, when we are tempted, let us submit ourselves to God.

If you haven't yet submitted yourself to God, if you haven't surrendered your life to him, you will try to avoid evil but will not be able to. No, FIRST, submit to God and THEN resist the devil ...and he will have to flee from you.
