It's All In The Timing

February 17

"And when they ran out of wine,
the mother of Jesus said to him,
'They have no wine.' Jesus said to her,
'Woman, what does your concern
have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.'”

John 2:3-4

My hour has not yet come...

Our works were prepared for us from before the foundation of the world, therefore it is vitally important that they take place when God has set THE TIME for each of of them.

"For we are his workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus for good works,
WHICH GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND
that we should walk in them."
Ephesians 2:10

There are works of gold, silver, and precious stone, but there are also works of wood, hay, and stubble. The works initiated by God will be gold, but the works initiated by ourselves will be stubble.

It's so very important to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will open up opportunities in which we are to work, an opportunity to reach someone's heart. If we wait upon him for the right time, it will result in a work of gold, but if not, the work will be shown to be stubble. Those works, though good, will be revealed to be useless because they were the result of our emotion, not the result of the moving of the Holy Spirit.

Pray with me:

Father, teach me to be very sensitive to your leading. We tend to go ahead of you and try to make things happen, then wonder why we didn't succeed. Help me wait for the right time to speak or to act, the time you chose before the foundation of the world, that I might glorify your Name in every successful work as it becomes so obvious that it was initiated by you. In Jesus's Name I ask. Amen
