“Most
assuredly, I say to you,
the hour is coming, and now is,
when
the dead will hear
the voice of the Son of God;
and
those who hear will live."
John
5:25
At first glance, it seems the Lord is speaking of the
resurrection promised to all believers. Surely at that time "the
dead will hear the voice of the Son of God." BUT ... why did the
Lord say the hour is coming AND NOW IS?
There's a gem hidden here.
"And
now is" implies that this doesn't refer only to the future
resurrection, but that even NOW the resurrection power of God reigns
in our lives. Have you ever witnessed a miracle? Have you ever
received from God what no human could have provided? Have you ever
been set free from something you had no power over? All these are the
results of the victory Jesus obtained over all the power of the
enemy. All of these are the resurrection power of Christ at work in
us.
"The thief does not come except to steal,
and
to kill, and to destroy.
I have come
that they may have LIFE,
and that
they may have it more abundantly."
John
10:10
Since the sin of Adam death has reigned over the entire
earth. Even plants die. All dies. But Jesus says he has come to give
us life. He has come to bring the resurrection power of God into our
lives.
Saints, approach the Lord in your distress. He holds
our lives in his hands, and when we are overcome with the death
principle working in our lives, he will bring life into our
situation. The power of resurrection is the mighty power of God, not
only to the dead who WILL in the future hear his voice, but also in
the NOW to those who call upon his Name.
