"But let all those rejoice
who put their trust in you;
let them ever shout for joy,
because you defend them;
let those also who love your Name
be joyful in you."
Psalm 5:11
The unsaved think believers live a life of restriction, stress and sorrow. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Believers are story tellers. Their greatest joy is in telling the wonderful experiences the Lord brings into their lives showing his presence with them in all they do. Ask any believer and be prepared to hear story after story after story. These are what keep a person going when trials come, because they know they are NEVER alone; their Lord is always with them, reminding them of the wonderful stories they have already experienced, which will strengthen and encourage them in time of need.
"When I remember you on my bed,
I meditate on you in the night watches.
Because you have been my help,
therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice."
Psalm 63:6-7
If you are a believer, think back over your walk with the Lord and bring to mind the stories he created in your life, incidents of guidance and direction, of provision, of changes in circumstance that could only have been brought about by God himself. These will encourage you to be ever watchful, wanting to recognize those times when the God of the universe comes into our lives in a very real way. Share them with others; it will both give glory to God as well as encourage those who are in need.
"...that we may be able to comfort
those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves
are comforted by God."
2 Corinthians 1:4
Here are some short testimonies I've gathered from many believers:
