"The
voice of rejoicing and salvation
is
in the tents of the righteous.
The
right hand of the Lord does valiantly,
the
right hand of the Lord is exalted,
the
right hand of the Lord does valiantly."
Psalm
118:15-16
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the
single most glorious deed in all of human history. In overcoming
death, Jesus promises that all who believe in him will also overcome
death. That Jesus lives is what makes Christianity different from all
other religions. There is no other founder of any religion, no author
of any 'holy' book who has overcome death. Buddha is dead. Mohammed
is dead. Confucius is dead. Joseph Smith is dead. They are all dead.
Only Jesus Christ is alive, promising eternal life to all who believe
in him and surrender their lives to him.
vs 22-24:
"The
stone which the builders rejected
has
become the chief cornerstone.
This
was the Lord’s doing;
it is
marvelous in our eyes.
This is the
day the Lord has made;
we will
rejoice and be glad in it."
Salvation was first offered
to Israel, but was rejected. Yet that stone that was rejected is the
very foundation stone upon which all else is built, and anyone who
builds his house on that stone will weather all storms of life, will
stand regardless of the intensity of Satan's efforts to destroy them,
because that stone - the Lord Jesus Christ - is solid, is steadfast,
is alive, and is totally trustworthy.
When one speaks
of the resurrection of Christ he is looking to that awesome day and
proclaiming, "This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice
and be glad in it." Because of it, we have eternal life!
"Because he lives, I can face tomorrow ...Life is worth
the living just because he lives."
