Suddenly And Unexpectedly

September 24

"...knowing this first,
that SCOFFERS will come in the last days,

walking according to their own lusts,
and saying, 'Where is the promise of his coming?'"
2 Peter 3:3, 4

When I encounter scoffers, I think of Noah when he was building the ark. While building, he was also preaching to the people, warning them. But they scoffed.

"What is that crazy guy doing over there, building something huge?"

"He says he's building a boat to save people from a flood."
"A flood??? Here??? It doesn't even rain here."
"Well he says it's going to rain and everyone's going to die in the flood."
"He's been saying that for years. How long is he going to keep this up?"
"He just keeps building and warning people, year after year after year."
"Has anyone reported him to the mental-health authorities?"
"No, people think he's harmless, just deluded."

They scoffed.

They died.

Jesus said that the conditions in the world when he comes, will “be as in the days of Noah:”

"...they were eating and drinking,

marrying and giving in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered the ark;
and did not know until the flood came
and took them all away,
so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."
Matthew 4:38-39

His coming will be sudden and unexpected:

"For you yourselves know perfectly

that the day of the Lord so comes
as a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:2

Jesus will come for every born-again believer and those left behind will be plunged into a time of suffering unlike any other time in the history of the world.

"For then there will be great tribulation,

such as has not been since the beginning of the world
until this time, no, nor ever shall be."
Matthew 24:21
