What Might Have Been

January 14

"...the Lord knows how to deliver
the Godly out of temptations
and to reserve the unjust under punishment
for the day of judgment, and especially those
who walk according to the flesh

in the lust of uncleanness
and despise authority.

They are presumptuous, SELF-WILLED."
2 Peter 2:9-10

I have often wondered what keeps someone from surrendering his/her life to the Lord. The Scriptures tell us that one factor is "self-will." Some consider themselves better able to control their lives than would be the God who created them. What awful pride.

God made each individual unique, and has a plan for each one. But many refuse his plan and insist on remaining the lord of their own lives.

God has a plan for your life, but so does Satan.

Satan is "the god of this world," (2 Corinthians 4:4) and it is into his kingdom that we are born. Anyone who refuses to bow before the Lord God of heaven will be under the direction and control of Satan. These things are out of our hands until we make the decision which it's going to be.

When the end comes for those who refused God, they will realize that their folly led them to their own destruction and they will recoil when they realize ...what might have been.

What could be more terrible than to stand before God at the end of life - in shock and regret?
