“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If
anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I
will come in to him and dine with him,
and
he with me."
Revelation
3:20
One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of
free will. He has left every human being with the power of choice.
But the absolute freedom of choice granted to us means that some will
choose sin and hatred and bitterness and evil, with all the
consequences of those choices.
Then is free choice worth it?
Is freedom of choice worth the terrible consequences and harm that
wrong choices will make?
It has to be, because otherwise we'd
all be automatons, and that is not what God wants for us. He wants us
to choose him, to desire him, to enter into relationship with him. In order for that to happen, we have to have the ability to make
those choices.
The Lord is looking for those who choose him
even while living in the midst of evil and pain and sorrow. They know
that in this world they will have tribulation, but that there's a
better world ahead wherein is happiness unhindered by evil of any
kind.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their
eyes;
there shall be no more death,
nor sorrow, nor crying.
There shall
be no more pain...
for the former
things have passed away..."
Revelation
21:4
Do not be discouraged when you see evil taking place in
this world, it has to be this way for now. You can't make a choice if
there is nothing to choose. So while you see the results of those
making wrong choices, remain firm in your faith. The day will
come when truly you will walk in that land where all things have been
made new. Forever.
