"...when by his light I walked through
darkness;"
Job 29:3
All
believers will experience walking in darkness. We have an enemy who
comes to "steal, kill, and destroy," and God allows the
trial of faith - promising that those who endure will come out as
gold.
..."that the genuineness of your faith,
being
much more precious than gold that perishes,
THOUGH
IT IS TESTED BY FIRE,
may be found to
praise, honor, and glory
at the
revelation of Jesus Christ..."
1
Peter 1:7
But how can one endure when walking in
darkness?
Darkness is the absence of light. But the Word of
God states that believers will NOT walk in darkness.
"But
you, brethren, are not in darkness,
so
that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
You
are all sons of light and sons of the day.
We
are not of the night nor of darkness."
1
Thessalonians 5:4-5
Is this a contradiction?
No, it
isn't. When a believer is plunged into a dark time in his life, the
Word of God assures him that he will NOT be without light. The light
is the Word of God.
"YOUR WORD is a lamp to my feet
and
a light to my path."
Psalm
119:105
This presupposes that you are carrying that lamp,
which is the Word of God. And if you are, you will not be in
darkness. Turn to the Word of God and let its light shine on your
path. What the Lord will speak to you from his Word, will be personal
to your situation. It will provide enough light for you to take the
next step.
The most important thing to God is his Word, and he
invites his children to turn to his Word, for out of his Word you
will find all the light you need for today.
