Because You Are Guilty

"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren,
that through this Man is preached to you
the forgiveness of sins;
and by him everyone who believes
is justified from all things from which
you could not be justified by the law of Moses."
Acts 13:38-39

Doing good cannot save you, obedience to the law cannot save you - because you're still a sinner and you can't enter heaven with guilt. No matter how "good" you are, you can never be good ENOUGH.

When a man stands before a judge, accused of murder, he can't take the focus off his crimes by telling the judge what good things he has done. He's not there to discuss his good deeds, he's there to hear the sentence on his crimes.

And so it is before God, the highest Judge. A person cannot escape punishment by telling God all the good he has done. He has the guilt of sin upon him and that will keep him from heaven. He's standing there to hear the judgment, and the Word of God says that judgment is hell. We all stand condemned, because we all have the guilt of sin upon us.

But God has provided an atonement for whoever will believe:

"For God so loved the world
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in him
should not perish
but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

Jesus Christ took the judgment in our place. The atonement he accomplished on our behalf is total - his Blood atoned for ALL our sins - for those who believe and surrender their lives to him.

Bring your guilt to Jesus, surrender your life to him - and he will give you the greatest gift ever given to mankind - the guilt of sin removed.
