A Fool By Choice

"...they did not glorify him as God,
nor were thankful,
but became futile in their thoughts,
and their foolish hearts were darkened.
PROFESSING TO BE WISE, THEY BECAME FOOLS..."
Romans 1:21-22

The "experts" of our day pat themselves on the back thinking they're "enlightened." They perceive themselves to be the elite. Those in the know.

In reality, they are fools.

What exactly IS a fool? Well ...God himself has answered that question:

"The fool has said in his heart,
 'There is no God.'"
 Psalm 14:1

How did they become fools? It happened as they became more and more learned in the subjects they spent their lives studying, whether it be science, medicine, space exploration, or philosophies of all kinds. When a man is admired for his great knowledge it more often than not goes to his head, as he loves the acclaim. He does not realize that he holds a very small piece of knowledge in the vastness and intricacies of God's creation.

Most scientists reject God the Creator and strive to prove that all of our world evolved by chance. Without their even knowing it, they've been "given over" to a debased mind because of their pride.

"And even as they did not like
to retain God in their knowledge,
God gave them over to a debased mind,
to do those things which are not fitting;"
Romans 1:28

When a person refuses “to retain God in their knowledge," God doesn't force them. He gives them over to a debased mind. What they don't realize is that in refusing God, they are accepting Satan, the one Scripture tells us is "the god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4), the great deceiver. And just as he is cast down, that will be their fate too. They will have all eternity to bask in their pride in hell. Their choice.
