"Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
do
not fret - it only causes harm."
Psalm
37:8
This can be a hard one. When one is angry, HOW can he
cease from it? Anger is powerful and not easily let go.
"But,"
you say, "I am justified, look at what he/she did to me or said
about me!"
You can choose to stay in it, ...but "it
only causes harm."
Take it to the Lord, tell him how this
is so unfair, (yes, he WILL listen, pour it out before him) then
leave it with him and ask that his peace which surpasses all
understanding replace the anger.
Always remember that if you
are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ you are walking around with
a bull's eye on your back. Satan will put it into the hearts of
people to say and do hateful things, IN ORDER TO BRING YOU DOWN and
render you so filled with emotion that you become useless to the
Lord.
RECOGNIZE IT FOR WHAT IT IS.
"For
we
do
not
wrestle
against
flesh
and
blood,
but
against principalities, against powers,
against
the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against
spiritual hosts of wickedness in the high places."
Ephesians
6:12
Meditate on this passage. Meditate on it until you "get
it," until you come to thoroughly understand that it is Satan
using people against you. Get your eyes off the individual, and
recognize your true enemy.
Pray with me:
Father,
we don't see into the spiritual realm so it's hard to realize that
things said or done against us originated not in the person who hurt
us, but in the enemy who is determined to destroy us. Father I pray,
put YOUR love in my heart so that I can turn the tables on Satan by
praying instead for the person he caused to hurt me.
